GIANTS Netball will travel to the Sunshine Coast this weekend to take on reigning Premiers, Lightning in their newly renovated home stadium this Saturday 25 May for Round 5 of Suncorp Super Netball (SSN).
GIANTS have won their last two matches while Lightning are coming off an impressive win over the Swifts in Round 4.
GIANTSNetballTV caught up with Head Coach Julie Fitzgerald ahead of this weekend’s clash to discuss the new look line-ups and the on-court combinations.
“I think we’re still building combinations, even though we walked away with a good win last weekend we know that there were things that we still need to build on, so I’m hoping that we see that improvement this weekend,” says Fitzgerald.
“Lightning has lost a few players and replaced them with very very good players. They’ve got Laura Langman back. Peace is one of the sensations of the competition, so I’m really looking forward to the game”, says Fitzgerald.
Over the last two years, an intense rivalry has built between the GIANTS and Lightning with blockbuster showdowns guaranteed at each meeting.
“Already just in the two years of the competition the regular season games against lightning have always been really close and heavily contested, so we’re looking forward to it,” comments Fitzgerald.
The game will be broadcast on Telstra TV and the Netball Live App from 7pm AEST, Saturday 25 May.
