GIANTS Netball toured their 2020 home venue yesterday ahead of construction starting soon, which will see a roof built on the Ken Rosewall Arena at Sydney Olympic Park by the end of 2019.
The venue, across the road from GIANTS training facilities and beside Netball NSW HQ, Netball Central, can hold up to 10,000 attendees with seating surrounding the court.
GIANTSNetballTV caught up with GIANT Sam Poolman to hear her thoughts on the new venue and what it will mean for the team to have a fixed home arena.
“For us, the all-around seating creates an awesome atmosphere, and we’re picturing lots of loud, orange fans and members sitting here, and I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house,” said Poolman.
Head Coach, Julie Fitzgerald echos the sentiment as she looks forward to making this new venue a GIANT home.
“Sometimes you walk into a venue, and even empty as it is today it has an awesome atmosphere and the way we enter the court, the crowd is so close, I can’t wait to play here.
“It’s all within our spiritual home of Syndey Olympic Park, across the road from our training venue, it’s right where we want to be all of the time”, said Fitzerald.
