NSW native Julie Fitzgerald has been coaching at the elite level of netball for 20 years. From 1997 to 2011, she was the Head Coach of the Swifts and in that time the team only missed out on one finals appearance. Following that, she became Head Coach of the AIS Netball Squad, and was Assistant Coach for the Australian Diamonds in 2012.

In 2014, Julie went across to New Zealand to coach Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic for three years, then made her way back home in 2017 to lead the newly created GIANTS Netball in the first year of Suncorp Super Netball.
